Ugh, estate agents

We did a similar totting up last night and got to around the same figure as your list of about £200k and added another £50k for other unforeseen nightmares.

Thing is though although it has a bigger plot and some aspects of greater potential, our current place has things we like more, the elevated view, the outbuildings, the space and flow of the rooms downstairs etc.

I get the sense that the pictures reveal neither the true liability facing a buyer, nor the potential beauty of the house.

But neither of us last night were particularly convinced at this stage to throw an extra £400k+ into something that won’t give us that return in enjoying living there (neither of us are bothered about house value or that kind of thing). Hel is also less keen on committing several years of disruption to refurb it, a bit like the collapsed money pit that went to auction a few years back.

We decided to go take a look when the viewings start at the end of August and see if there are yet to be discovered charms that might provide the motivation.

Sahara Gold?

Colour palette is the least of the issues with that bathroom.

Sounds entirely sensible.

Is it not worth/viable throwing a lump of money at your current house and making it a dream home?

Are you committed to the midlands area?

One of my favourite pubs is in Iddesleigh.

Yeah definitely, that’s plan A. We have a few projects in mind for this place like replacing the current dining room conservatory and building a proper roof with a wooden vaulted ceiling and a full width bifold into the garden; and converting the one outbuilding into a garden kitchen and bar. Then a balcony off our bedroom.

So lots of scope here too.

I would agree with almost all of these. If there is damp or structural issues then more needed. Fancy flooring can also really up the ante.

If you could get on a TV show it seems you can have all this done for £60k.

Good lord.

The bath on a carpeted plinth/altar with disco lights is an especially nice touch.

Had a whirlpool bath, on a plinth, like that, in an old 17th century cottage, we lived in, for a year and a half. No disco lights, but it was carpeted.

Essex Countryside

Am not entirely surprised by that.

God, that’s awful, if you can stand to live 20 minutes from the airport and an hour from fish and chips in Ullapool, and have a spare £200k for spends.

Never seen a square lavvy before. I lead a sheltered life.

I know, that’s the point.

Only 3 problems with that property -

1.Inverness
2. Bungalow
3. Dreary ‘contemporary’ design and decor

That is awful.
Going to cost a small fortune to put it right.
Chances of finding someone who thinks every room looks good is slim. Saying that,it is Essex

So, you don’t like it then, fine🙂

Would quite like a bungalow
