Actually, we’re a year out from an election but every indication is that we are going to elect a very conservative government by a large majority.

I don’t think the FOX news guy will be confirmed either. Raytheon and Lockheed-Martin will choose that nominee.

Half hope you’re right (the other half is just a sea of despair and hopelessness), but every single aspect of this whole sorry clown show has defied predictions that normality might ever again taint proceedings.
They now have a talentless orange egomaniac in charge orchestrating an entire nation’s cognitive dissonance. No-one seems to remember that he actually achieved nothing whatsover of value in his last four years, they only ‘remember’ the lies they’re relentlessly fed.
No matter how vile the individuals, no matter the crimes they have under their belts, no matter the foreign interests promosting this, no matter how much it will hurt the US - Reality has left the room.
Given the huge changes this administration will make to every aspect of how the US is run, I fully expect this shit to stick now, possibly for generations after the shitgibbon is rotting in his golden nausoleum…

You’re correct, the real problem is the people in the background actually running policy. They promised they’re going to demolish the administrative state, and now they’re getting their chance.

Yep, the revenge is a short-term thing, after that they will be out to dismantle the machinery of state in such a way that the leftish side of politics in the US is effectively shut-out for good.
The way it looks to be heading is a bizarre mix of kleptocracy, dictatorship and billionaire’s oligarchy - just what you’d expect I suppose from a group of people who fear and despise anyone who is not exactly like themselves…
If average white Americans are better off under Trumusk over the coming years he (avec ideals) will be entrenched. If the wheels fall off there is hope.

Yeah, they were the dominant demographic, but they were far from being the only demographic that still voted for him in significant numbers.
The bit of data I’d be interested in seeing is the white/black/latino splits for people on less than ~$20/hour. I get the feeling the white grouping would be very heavily Trump, and the black / latino much less in favour than those demographics are across the whole income range.
That said I did read an article about low income latino families in Hawaii who were solidly on the Trump vote, simply because Dems had really not made low income families a priority. It’s only going to get worse for them on that front because their analysis is bollocks, but Dems definitely didn’t cover themselves in glory in that area.
Looking at the national picture isn’t particularly enlightening either. Republicans gonna republican in all the usual states. It’s the swing states where it all happens.

People felt that they were better off under Trump.
if gas prices are cheaper and their groceries are not getting more expensive they will be happy.
I don’t think the average voter worries too much about environmental issues, foreign policy or morality, Trump’s morality that is, he is exempt from any Christian evangelical behavioural expectations.

Trump leaned hard into males 35-65 years old. Latino and black men in that age range are actually quite socially conservative as a demographic. The abortion chaos and transphobia played well with them this election cycle.
Yeah, they obviously clocked on to opening up a magic kingdom of cunts in Florida in 2016 and leant into it hard across the states that were in play in '24.
I thought the abortion vote would overwhelm it, but not to be. It was all still decided on about 100k votes mind.
