I fear the orange shitgibbon will win, it is impossible to overestimate the dumb in the US

Well, he was a (relatively) unknown quantity then. This time, many will think they know what they’re voting for, but, if he wins, then it won’t be more of the same, it’ll be full on Republic of Gilead stuff.
Then people who voted for the leopards eating faces party are gonna have some serious regrets.

It would depend on who was standing against him. IMHO it’s a shit job so the opposition would, of necessity, have to be weird or desperate.

That said there are a few (very) historical examples of a strong leader taking over from a representative government. Off the top of my head I’m thinking the Caesars establishing imperial rule over what had been the Roman republic, but surely there must be others.
Chazza3 is not Julius Caesar though and Wills doesn’t come across as being that way inclined either.
Then again Boris Johnson got to be prime minister. In a world where that actually happened I can’t rule anything out.
