USB: audio interface for line INPUT

Hoping someone can recommend something cheap.

I need to digitise a tape cassette, and foolish me for thinking it was ten years ago when all laptops had line input jacks. My current laptop cannot ingest audio via its 3.5mm jack.

Amazon reads like a maze of word salad, and it’s unclear if half the devices they suggest are mono, for microphones only, or not even input devices.

Can anyone recommend something cheap, for getting basic RCA or 3.5mm jack line level audio, into a computer!?

This should be fine David.

Behringer USB audio interface.

Quite handy that it has home audio friendly stereo RCA ins/outs.

Used with free Audacity digi recording S/W it’ll do a much better job than old school line in 3.5mm jack to a pc.

If you require onestop SW to allow tagging & audio cleanup + adding album art etc VinylStudio by Alpinesoft is pretty nice to use, but does cost some.

You can get a lot more serious, but these basic Behringers have a v decent rep.

Yeah I’m good with audacity n so on, it’s just I was lacking an input! Even my 7 year old MacBook Air that I dug out of storage doesn’t do line in any more.

Long gone are the days I used to use a Mac mini for digitising vinyl!

Thanks for the recommendation
