I know a few of you had subscriptions to them, hope you’re not affected.
Anyone based in Europe and Asia was given the heave ho a little while back as they stopped shipping to us. This was apparently because it wasn’t cost effective. This amuses me because VMP sent me roughly 100 records for… checks notes… £0 as they just kept me on some sort of comp list and I know of one other UK contributor who was the same so I suspect that the profit and loss of international sales wasn’t checked that closely.
It’s a shame because the original idea was a great one. It was doomed when labels saw how successful it could be and cut them out of accessing some material they wanted. When the founders started arguing and the numerate ones were let go, it was only a matter of time really. I have to say, they were a decent company to freelance for.
Yeah it is a bit of a shame, they did knock out some quality stuff at times.
