As all right thinking gentlemen know, VU meters are king of hifi aesthetics. Advance Acoustics might lay claim to the biggest (and therefore best) VU meter option:
I’m still a sucker for the pioneer late 70s range with the blue VUs
If I had a 2nd room,and money,I’d have one of these stacks
Wtf is it driving at that output
A pair of dustbin lids?
Either;
- A small family home.
- 30 metres of wet rope
- An electric welder
or - @AmDismal’s complete Raspberry Pi ensemble.
You choose!
Has anyone got much experience of Macintosh stuff?
My hearing of it is very limited at a show,but wasn’t impressed
I reviewed the MA7200 a while back. It realistically wouldn’t be how I would spend that money myself… but it made more sense than I thought it would.
I had the similar 505u version and very nice it was too but I still prefer my tubes
Yeah, but Onkyo ?
I think my faves are still these
I’m not so keen on the digital display ones for some reason, real needles and real numbers for me. Anyway here’s a shot of the old faithful, 25 years old and been back in daily service for around two after many years in the loft. Lights aren’t as bright as that in reality, capturing a light source in a dark room is always a problem.
Now you see I was going a little VU value table, but measuring the size of that complicates matters rather.
