Walks in Peak District (Millers Dale)

I said to my wife today that “this was what I did every week as a kid”, as I worked out how to get back on a missed path on the OS map.

I had a child apprenticeship in deciphering a map, and packing for the worst outcome.

I miss the simplicity of it all, and love the fact I have no phone signal (he says, using WiFi to gas on a forum).

I did have to check what FB was, as I knew it wasn’t social media.

The weather does make a difference, and mud would have ruined a lot of what we did.

If you fancy a smartphone version of walking, you can download maps of any walk you want to do. Then install Google Mymaps, and upload them to there. Mymaps then shows you your walk, and your position, and doesn’t need data once the map is cached.

Lots of routes available online, like this
