I have a very early copy bought back in the late 70s after one of the hifi mags reviewed it and said it was a superb recording. Also bought the two follow-ups when they were released.

I played the first one a couple of days back and it still sounds fantastic - like the musicians are in the room! :ok_hand:

Don’t listen to it very often (CD), but the recording quality really is superb.

Less Jazz in a Pawnshop more saxophone in a church

Pretty much applies to all those 70s Swedish audiophile labels. The material is hit and miss but always well recorded

I always wished Sheffield labs recorded a few more interesting artists. Lee Morgan direct to disk would act like Viagra to my collector mind.

I agree the Pawnshop album is a bit “easy listening jazz”
I bought a few direct cut discs back then. This is probably the most interesting jazz one:
