Back when my weight control was much more dysfunctional than now I found I could lose 1kg a week just by going on a ‘conventional’ low calorie diet (included cutting out alcohol completely). But as soon as I went back to drinking again and eating enough that I wasn’t hungry the weight would pile back on at about that rate.
I suspect the weight re-gain isn’t directly affected by the pharmacology of the new jabs at all. It just takes place at the ‘natural’ 0.8kg/month rate because the jabs haven’t helped people to learn to deal with their ‘natural’ hunger (and sobriety).
Yeah but on them you’d get by with a smaller house, swings and roundabouts.
I met a friend for coffee and a catch-up today and she went on the jabs (Mounjaro I think) back in April or May last year. She’s come off them now. She’s lost 5 stone and is very pleased with that. She and her partner of nearly 20 years are getting married this spring.
It’s taking a bit more time, but the direction of travel is still good. 104kg, a bit to go yet, but this summer should see that acheived. Diet is certainly healthier, has to be if calorie intake dips from 3000 to less than 1500.
Now have to make another change, cholesterol needs to come down, so diet will adjust to do that. I am, unfortunately, unable to take any of the Statin groups due to muscle wastage . Not the made up type with aches and pains, actual wastage leading to permanent damage and easily picked up in bloods by enzyme given off when muscle is traumatised… same way indicator used to determine heart attacks. But of a shitter, but it is what it is.
The immediate high risk of heart attack has been dealt with, now for the other stuff.
Does this intrude on the personal cheeses?
It does now! No more car cheese .

Jokes asside - Good on you Bob
My only advice would be that when you stop the jabs don’t underestimate how bad the food cravings will be. My appettite came back with an absolute vengence and I put back on a stone in one month.
Plan for your appettite to be more than you’ve ever experoienced and find something to snack and fill up with.
I found that thick fat free yoghurt with fruit was good.
Again however rampant you think they’ll be it’ll be 100x more intense
Did you wean yourself off or stop cold turkey?
Stopped, cold turkey.
Oof brave man. I get some nasty headaches if I miss a few days. I peaked at 15 and am weaning down now. I’m on 12 and the cravings hit a couple of days before I’m due another jag. So I’m getting used to being good aware again.
I may switch to the other one to see if that can help while I’m weaning off. And it won’t hurt my wallet either.
Do you inject daily?
I’ve just received my first pack of Mangina and it’s a weekly injection.
Stabbed myself with it yesterday and the infection is definitely starting to work. Food noise is already decreased to a low hum, which is a massive improvement on the shouting I suffered previously.
I’m currently 175kg and want to get down to ~130kg (20st ish) I’m still quite strong under all this fat (and v tall obvs) so I doubt I’ll get much lower than 21st. I was playing 80mins of Rugby at 21 stone without much issue so that feels like a good target weight.
Weekly I started off at 170+kg and I’m 128-130 depending on the day now. My target is 100kg but I’m struggling to make headway now. I’m contemplating moving to the other one and giving the Mangrove a rest for a bit. I’ll probably do another pen of it at full bore to see if I can break the back and then move over to an alternative to rest and maintain for a bit.
It doesn’t help that this month is full of birthdays which means takeaways and eating out is rife.
Just make sure you think about what you’re eating and not just eating through habit. If you’re full don’t be afraid to leave half a plate of food and put it in the bin.
Good advice. Thanks.
Other things……
On the lower doses it’s easy to live with, but I’ve found as the doses get larger the side effects can get a bit unpleasant.
Nothing life threatening, but uncomfortable and irritating. My digestive system has always been trouble free, robust even. On the jabs, reflux, severe constipation, constant loud gurgling/bubbling noises, trapped wind/putrid farts and always feeling like you’re wanting to take a massive dump, (but not being able to).
Lopwell is going to have roomful of skinnyminnys it seems, which will be a first
