What albums have you bought lately?

Fenian is a cracker.

LNT At the Movies is a cracker

Some odd and not so odd

The latter is a weird test record produced in conjunction with analogue productions. I’ve no idea what I’ll do with it, but I was amused my local purveyor of plastic discs had a copy. So I bought it

it is.. I thought I already had a copy, but it was some shitty DOL thing I bought in Portugal. So this nice 70’s pressing was a welcome addition

It is. One of the most extraordinary vocal recordings I’ve ever heard & great performances of all the songs. Certainly the original version, not sure about the re-issues.

this one being quite an old pressing seems thoroughly excellent. Quiet and rich sounding. Smooth as butter

It’s just effortless. I recall first hearing it on Snell A’s at Peter Qvortrup’s place when we took a turntable to play to him. I was shocked when that first line came in after the intro.

Mostly 12’s, a good £10 spent

Worth it, for Dare alone.

The bobby mardis is the pick for me

Theere were a decent collection of queen 12’s I should have bought just to sell if I’m at that office next week and they are still there..

I’ve been on the lookout for a decent mono copy of this since I cleared out the public domain reissues from my collection a couple of years ago. I missed this Rhino Reserve reissue that came out in January. I’m really pleased to have stumbled across it and have it back in my collection. It’s a great album.

Rat Now Paris 70 is a great album. Like most of Sam Records’ output it sounds excellent too.

I see you didn’t hang about picking up Vol. 5 of the J Jazz series on BBE.

I think you may already know this but just in case you don’t, BBE reissued Mal Waldron & Terumasa Hino - Reminicent Suite back in 2024. It’s also from the early 70s so has a similar vibe going on to Rat Now. It sounds fantastic too and is well worth adding to your collection if you don’t have it already.

Thanks for the heads up on JJ5 it’s such a great series :+1:

I’m slowly building up my Sam Records collection and have had my eye on Rat Now for a while - looking forward to giving it a spin later. Reminicent Suite is for next month as my allowance for this month is gone
