He didn’t. The strings are largely sampled and that work and much of the pre-production was done at home. The songs were largely recorded in proper studios.
Ah okay, his comments then on this are a bit misleading.

I think I’ve wasted 20 bucks on the Album. Anybody wants it, wait a few days and I’ll likely be flogging it, half price, FFS.
Hang on to it and give me a chance to have another listen later.
Unsurprisingly this is an LP best listened to on vinyl at serious volume. The TIDAL stream I listened to via earbuds while walking the dog was nowhere near as good.
