It’s pretty good so far.

FWIW both series were on the BBC IIRC.

Byzantium is superb! I kind of pair that with Last Lovers Left Alive.

Inside Porton Down - BBC4

Fucking terrifying.

And that’s only the tiny bits we’re allowed to know :flushed:

My old man installed one of the first computer mainframes there in the 60’s. He called it the lipstick on monkeys place.

The War of the Worlds

Started promisingly and went downhill from there. Very poor in the end.

Fucking god awful film, Scorsese is just rehashing the same old shite but the great old actors are now arthritic and badly CGI’d to look younger.

De Niro trying to beat up the grocery store guy was embarrassing.

Just fucking awful. Dreadful idea executed very poorly.

8.4 on IMDB…somebody (prolly not cuntz tho) must like it

A pretty incredible 94 average from 54 critical reviews…

It’s unequivocally praised.

Interesting as its a film that seems to divide opinion from the people I’ve spoken to, yes most like it but a good number don’t.

Me not liking it doesn’t take away from some-one else’s enjoyment or assessment though. I will say why I formed the opinion - for me its a lot like a reheated pastiche of everyone involved former glories. I love Goodfellas/ Godfather etc but this isn’t offering anything that those films have already shown us.

I like the main actors, they’re terrific and watchable. But the de-aging really didn’t work for me when others maybe can get past it. You put these guys on screen for those incredible electric scenes and there where some good ones in the Irishman, but if the story was so good then my take was that surely there’s other actors in the world that can carry it? You can de-age their faces but you can’t de-age their bodies and the way they move, and from that point of view they aren’t really capable of playing the parts they’ve been asked to - again only an opinion and YMMV.

However because @jim cares about the wear and tear on my keyboard, I’d have probably been better off just repeating what @thebiglebowski summarised much better than I have -

It’s all subjective. But I have rarely seen a such a critics’ consensus.

My wife will fall asleep during it and I’ll watch it.
So, it matters not to be honest.
