Absolutely, I have just started re-reading (I read them all as a young man) “Unreliable Memoirs” and have the rest of his biography series downloaded to read on the upcoming holiday
What are you reading on your current holiday then?
Just finished Hunters.
Pacino’s rather serious attempts at being frum are countered by knowingly hammy personas (Foxy) Cartoonesque interludes are punctuated with historical horror flashbacks that lead to a schizophrenic narrative. It feels like a plastic Tarantino off cast, it doesn’t really gel. There are moments and those moments are great but the whole thing rather ran out of steam and didn’t resolve well which was a shame.
It was absolute TV gold
True Detective S3
Deadwind
Truly excellent, a return to form. @SAP7 solved it in 20 mins but enjoy it all the same
American Woman - Siena Miller version.
Christ, that was good and Miller is superb.
Bangers and cash, S2 on catch up.
War Of Thw Worlds - Fox version. Started well and looked promising, might even be half good.
But, where the fuck do robotic dog like exterminators come in! As bad as the stupid creatures the BBC put in their version
If they don’t ULLA! instead of barking, I am disappointed.
Either of the above worth it?
Sky have just given me Netflix for 4 quid a month for the premium Dolby vision package… saving me a few quid (costing 12.99 I think).
I won’t use the Sky Q box for it though as it’s capped at HD I think).
Have you seen ‘end of the fucking world’?
Ages ago.
Well it’s a bit like S1 of that, lots if retro vintage hipster nods. But it kinda loses its way. Very watchable but switch your brain right off.
Watched this last night, for the umpteenth time. Its from a different age obvs but still fantastic. The way it looks for one thing - amazing cinematography. Then there is the layered meaning; does Shane leave town at the end just because he kills three men, or is it that he also can’t face his feelings for Marian, or his inability to settle down? Why does he get involved in the first place? It has perhaps the quintessential hero riding off into the sunset Western ending (well, more like sunrise but you get my drift) but you get the feeling he has many issues to resolve in his life - it isn’t a happy ending exactly.
Love this scene; https://youtu.be/u4qQtWjXPv4
