I know music plays a huge part in his films but her character introducing the Max Cherry character to The Delfonics is a pivotal part of the story.
I love the scene where Max Cherry buys the cassette and plays them in his car which, I think, is a small nod to this scene form Boyz N The Hood
I get that, but there were several places where he could have done his trademark tension thing and didn’t. It ended up seeming just slightly too smooth.
Hel put this on last night. Maybe there might have been a good film in there somewhere, but Seth Rogen
