What I'm watching (Series 2)

Meh, she’s gyrating in Funzie Casino every Saturday.

I listened to that yesterday & quite enjoyed it. They didn’t need to use Brian Blessed though. Our MP, Sir Geoffrey Cox could’ve done it just as well (although he’d probably have charged more)

We’ve just started Irvine Welsh’s Crime. Two episodes in and very good so far. Dougray Scott’s character certainly has some demons.

Not as crass as the title might suggest.

Leave the world behind

Netflix

One of a handful of films with a focus on character rather than special effects when dealing with the distaster movie genre. I loved it, will watch it again in a couple of weeks.

Babylon

A take of Hollywood excess as it moves from silent to talkies. 3 hours long, not overlong though. Fabulous.

Surely one of the best opening scenes ever

Summary

From an elephant shitting on a guys head to the fella playing an accodian wearing a horses head, the 25 minutes between these two cover the best wrong kind of party for the right kind of people.

Absolutely

Watched the first series again.

Hard to believe it’s almost 25 years since it was first aired. Groundbreaking in its day.

I’ve been telling one of my younger workmates to start watching it - I doubt there’ll ever be anything like it again.

RoboCop.

I’d buy that for a dollar!

Most of them are MR James, but The Signalman is Dickens, and Stigma has all the gratuitous 70s boobies a teenager could wish for.

Wonka. Reminiscent of the kind of films I saw as a child; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bedknobs & broomsticks etc but with added Roald Dahl quirkiness. Funny, charming and very well made with a good, mostly British cast.

If you’ve got kids or grandkids of suitable age, take them. You’ll all have a great time.

I had to smile because it had a charm that Wes Anderson regularly strives and invariably fails to achieve. :grinning:

Hoping to catch it over Crimble with the kids. Pleased to hear it’s got a little magic.

Some good songs and plenty of familiar locations to spot.
