I have become so used to the levels of irony and sarcasm in this place that I’m pretty much immune to anything less subtle than ‘Fuck off you stupid cunt’.
I am a stupid cunt, so from there it’s just a case of determining whether the insult is actually directed at me, and precisely what it was that I said to deserve it.
Whatever. Flouncing doesn’t work here, and I’m shit at it anyway.

I don’t disagree, but it does sometimes sit awkwardly alongside the spasms of hair-trigger virtue-signalling. Plus the sheer lack of diversity of thought and opinion can lead to dullness.

Interestingly often from those you’d not expect it from.
It’s true that many here (myself included) have broadly similar opinions when it comes to the big issues, and it’s clear that the discussion of hifi is a sideshow rather than the main event (ironically, the only time I ever feel a twinge of apprehension is when considering asking a hifi-related question - it feels dirty somehow). I suspect that’s why we’ve had to create a billion threads about coffee and foreign pastries - to ensure there are outlets for diversity. It sometimes seems that way, at least.
It is what it is. When I get tired of Trump and Musk being cunts, the world being a scarier place than usual and people in general being the worst kind of global virus, there’s always reality (closely followed by unwise quantities of alcohol).
This place is alright, really.
