Which amp?

I’ve listened to a few bits of Ayre gear at dealers, definitely something I’m on the lookout for as and when funds allow. As observed, the integrateds do seem very modestly specked power wise.

I recall a good while back having an Ayre DAC and a preamp. Overall impressions - solid, well built and reliable. Sound signature very clean if a little erring towards slightly leaner sonic images.

I’ve heard the Leema integrated and personally preferred that over the Ayre but YMMV and all that.

Speaking as someone who quite likes how older Leema kit sounds, I always felt that Exposure did a similar but better job, and for a bit less ££££ - 3000 series amps are worth a listen if you get an opportunity.

had an ax 7 lovely sounding amp but has not got balls and has to be balanced as the phono output is way behind even unlistenable

I know someone running ‘A’ s with a Sony Vfet amp. It sounded fab when I heard it. You are welcome to try mine to see if you like it.

Aye, might have a higher output than mine? Did sound good. :+1:

Yeah, it’s the TA-N7B which is 70W. Also the solid state M7 :grinning:

That might have had an influence…

There was one for sale in germany a few months ago for £1300 which is a truly bonkers price for them

They do come up.

Think the Yamaha B-3 is supposed to be the mutts nuts of VFET amps but I’ve never seen one for sale in the UK, few 110v ones in Japan though.

Prices seem to have shot up, unfortunately :slightly_frowning_face:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a B3 for sale.

Go figure.

Cheaper one here

£800 inc VAT is a bonkers price

let me know what it sounds like after you get it

Lol, I’d rather build my own. :grinning:

Are there any readily available VFETs suitable for this? I really have lost track since the J2 arrived here…
