Ardbeg Wee Beastie down to 29 quid on Amazon atm.
Unfortunately I missed out on this great offer, as when I spotted this yesterday, it was already back up to full price.
I’ve made up for it today by picking up some equally good looking bargains.
Two brand new to me peated single malt expressions, hailing from elsewhere than Islay.
The Amacuntz deal on the Peat’s Beast cask strength is extraordinarily good at £35-69, as M.o.M. sell it for £51-83.
Stock at Amacuntz is dwindling rapidly though, they were down to their last 2 bottles in stock, just after I placed my order.
Conversely, the Benriach Birnie Moss intensely peated single malt is currently on offer in M.o.M.s weekly flash sale for only £29-95 which is a cracking good deal & fortuitously good timing for me, as it has been on my must try list fer a while.
I’ve also sprung fer a further two bottles of Arran Quarter cask “The Bothy” to add to my core stockpile, as I’m finding it absolutely fantastic, I prefer it by quite some margin over t’ Arran Sauternes cask finish, which I like rather a lot. M.o.M still have it priced rather keenly at only £40-89. As an unpeated cask strength expression I think it stands up very well to the Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill/virgin American oak. For me the Arran Q.C. has been a real Eureka “that’s it” Dram moment. Currently one of the class acts below £50 IMV!!
Just been on and ordered one at £29.95 plus £4.60 delivery. Jan loves the peat whisky.
One I’m really looking forward to trying Mick. I hope you & Jan will be in for a nice treat!!
Most of my peated single malt whisky expressions hail from Islay & I have the Arran Machrie Moor cask strength that I have yet to try. So I will find it interesting to try a couple of peated Speyside whiskys that don’t have the abundant maritime notes, that I’m more accustomed to. From the overall tenor of t’ reviews I’ve seen/read it looks a fairly safe bet.
That is if the mystery distillery Peat’s Beast actually hails from Speyside, as Amacuntz claim, as I’ve also seen some suggestion it might be from t’ Jura distillery.
Fox Fitzgerald bottles Peat’s Beast, this website suggests its an Islay
It’s really not that clear cut Simon.
They’ve done a few Islay single malt bottlings
& the bottle of Peat’s beast cask strength I’ve just bought is apparently not one of them. For the main part I’ve seen it attributed as a Speyside. but like I said I’ve seen mention of Jura as a possibility from a couple of sources. On balance Speyside is probably the more likely candidate for this particular offering. As I’m sure they would attribute it as an Islay if it was so’ as other mystery distillery offerings have done.
