Wtd - 1" Compression Driver

Looking for a 1" compression driver to try, somthing like a BMS 4550 or Radian 475PB would be ideal.

Anybody got anything sitting around?

I might have a pair of Faital Pro HF10AK with Le Cleach1.5kHz horns for sale shortly.

I’m on the look out again for another 1" Compression Driver to use in a 2 or 3-way.

Open to vintage such as Fostex D1400 or Coral M100 for example as well as newer stuff like the Radian 475PB again. I had a pair of Faital HF10AK but they were not so great below 3kHz, much like my BMS 4524.

Anybody got anything tasty lying around, up to say around £500/pair…

I have a pair of EV ND2 8 ohm std x’over is 1800hz £170 pair

I’ve got the 4550s on the SH50 alike Synergy MEHs at the moment.
These are real workhorses. Can handle 800Hz on 2nd order and play upto 18KHz.
Hard to destroy! Cheap diaphragm spares.
Used them at recent wedding. Worked very well.

Bit too much hassle to remove though..

I’ve also got a pair of Peerless by Tymphany DFM-2535R00-08.
Kinda keeping them in the wings if an S2 or 2 ever pegged it😳
These are more delicate than the 4550s. Both in sound and what they’ll handle abuse wise.
I tested them against the S2s - not bad
They are hifi compared to the 4550s PA sound.
At hifi volumes they’ll survive fine. Not for PA though!

You might be able to buy them again now as the group buy I got mine in ensured quotas were filled.

Edit: just checked and soundimports EU have them.
They say 1.5KHz XO.
I got them meet the MEH MF around 1 to 1.1 KHz at hifi sound levels and sound good.

I’m not familiar with that one, I shall do some reasearch. They do have a BMS 4552ND which looks very linear though, much like my 4524.

This is purely for home use so no issues with SPL, the Peerless appear to be in stock here. £95/pair delivered +VAT/Import Duty is not bad!

Yes, used right, I think they are a sweet sounding bargain.

Being pretty much hifi only they didn’t sell / get trashed in big enough numbers.
That’s why the DIYaudio group buy was created - to get them back in production.
