Is about double the price of the Minus K (it’s £10,250 UK RRP). In it’s partial defence it can do the same things at the Minus K, has a 60Kg payload (which is a lot higher than the small Minus K platforms) and can self level (which the Minus K can’t).
I have to be honest, one of these and a Rega Naia would be £23,375. That’s a lot… but I’d fancy its chances against most TTs under £30k.
Anyone considering re-mortgaging in order to conjure up £10,000 for a turntable isolation platform needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves some searching questions starting with: “Am I a total fucking loon?”
My concern with this is the turntable already has two resonant systems. It’s own sprung suspension, there to isolate the subchassis/bearing/platter and tonearm from motor noise and external vibration. Typically this filter is set at about 4 Hz.There’s also the arm cartridge resonance where the effective mass of the arm and the sprung compliance within the cartridge typically filters out movement below about 10-11 Hz. I just have concerns about introducing a third compliant filter that could be excited by something else.
Guess all I can say is nothing ventured, nothing gained. Everything else is set up so well, its annoying that a couple of sprung floorboards occasionally ruin it.
