Wtd: cheap beginner kit

One of my work mates son’s has an urge to improve his kit from a £75 turntable, hard wired into a single Bluetooth speaker (which means an upgrade is basically anything!).

Dad is loathe to spend a lot as this may just be a passing fad (he has ND issues).

If anyone has anything basic that is unloved and close to me please let me know. Simple, modest sized, and enough to make noise.

Or advice on anything. I’ll probably scour the local for sale stuff.

To be a bit more clear - this is stuff just to work. It’s not what you’d call a starter system. More the point where system is even a word! Functioning maybe?

Narrowed this down to some small bookshelf or similar speakers that aren’t useless, but are better than a chipboard mounted, Christmas cracker drivers

If anyone has anything or spots anything. Budget is as close to nothing as possible! The sort of level that’s good enough to last a couple of upgrades and a budget deck set up.
