Always liked the open and easy sound of Snells, so looking for a pair for the office.
Which Ks should I go for and what to look out for type advice very welcome.
Even better if you have a pair in the loft in original condition you’d like to sell me.
Snell K mk1 with paper driver is my favourite.
You aren’t going to find ones that haven’t been refoamed so check it’s been done well, has original woofers as they are matched to the crossovers.
Alternately I had some AN-K/SPe that were fantastic with a doped driver.
TBH they are like rocking horse shit at the moment so either doped or paper drivers should be snaffled up.
Not sure about these but the seller seems to have a lot of neg feedback, they recently bought some Shahinian Arcs for £700 and have listed them for £3200 which is just fantasy

Yeah, only pair of originals I’ve seen so far need re-foaming and they want over £500 for.
I have a very (very) early pair of AN-Ks. They are basically Snell pattern but have a shit load of Audio Note Japan era foo in the crossovers. Cosmetically, they are tired but @coco where they currently reside might be talked around to taking some pictures of them.

Cosmetics are less of an issue as I know somebody who can either veneer them or build entirely new cabinets.
What’s your impressions of the presentation compared to the Snell variety?
It’s been years since I have heard Snell Ks. People who have heard both seem to feel these are more Snell than AN as they aren’t the newer AN ply cabinets. The mid bass drivers were replaced a few years ago with AN paper drivers but this didn’t change the presentation.
