Is it 70’s era Mike ?

Yep, just squeezes in Al, 78-79

Meh !

Nice weather, today…

I’ve a nice looking Rotel RA-412 here but I suspect it needs some serious work done on it and I don’t know if it’s worth the cost now.

I don’t know the Rotel Al, but a lot of the higher end 70’s stuff is well worth caring for.

It’s nothing fancy - does have a nice looking 70’s type silver fascia tho’.

I’d like a RA-1412 if one happened to land (heavily) at my feet

Now, that, does look nice

Uber rare sadly

Yeah, real shame isn’t it. The PMA-850 is getting that way too. I think a lot of the decent ‘vintage’ stuff is :frowning:

I always feel guilty using TVK images as it ultimately lead to it’s demise - such a shame Axel was a total gent.

Amazing site indeed. How did using their images lead to their demise ? Me no understandy

Started out with a Rotel RA310, lovely little amp, aspired to the 410 as I was broke and could just about envisage one day being able to afford one. Always liked Rotel, although could sound a tad lean if not partnered correctly.

Thanks Gregg :grinning:

The Pye PF91’s up thread are lovely, I’ve not had a pair of those but it did remind me of how much I loved the design of the Pye Mozart amp. I once had the amp and tuner in a lovely console and just found my pics of them looking for something completely unrelated

Finding the Pye pics sent me off looking for pics of the acoustical amp I had around the same time

Hailing from a similar period came this Williamson lump with rather nice Partridge transformers, The guy who made it had built everything into the wall - Everything including his Tannoys. It was one of the only times I’ve ever needed to use a club hammer to buy hifi

Also came across this, nothing special but in a world of plastic environmental difficulty it made me smile when I looked in the box for the first time with it’s original straw packaging

I have a little regret with this one as Graeme did a lovely job of working through it. I reasoned at the time there was next to bugger all chance of finding another which was rather compounded by the guy who runs the Lowther museum wanting to buy it from me as he didn’t have one either

Possibly the meatiest vintage amp I’ve had in was the Westrex 2332A. It was a hernia inducing brute with a 120W output. I also had the 60W version, seemingly they did a 30W version but I’ve never had one of those

For scale:
