There are several things you can plug in to deliver stimulation and pleasure. Half decent home hifi can reliably do this AND keep it up for more than ten minutes.
I must have the rong fusesâŠ
We actually have listening cafĂ© in Launceston now, believe it or not. Itâs a nice vibe. The guy just opens 3 days a week, Friday to Sunday. Itâs very much a labour of love. I just passed this morning and it was looking pretty busy in there, which Iâm glad about. System is ok, but he could use something heftier IMHO⊠Sonab speakers apparently donated by Seasick Steve.
Fine and dandy if you donât mind listening to other peopleâs musical choices while surrounded by a couple of dozen strangers all trying to be heard above those musical choicesâŠ
Mind, a lot of sodding gigs are like that nowadaysâŠ
At least they wonât all be waving their phones in the air, one hopes. I was once at a jazz gig and I had to tell the guy at a table behind me to stop going on and on about the Child Support Agency. His pal looked grateful.
If these grow to anything like successful, just wait for Greene King to open one with a pair of torn Eltax speakers and a selection of broken Chineseum CD players.
Dread to think what a Wetherspoons version would look like. Although some of their venues would be ideal for very large horns as ex Cinemas.
The old marquee one in Charing x road would be ideal. Not sure how much youâd hear over the talking though
One use for that along with the owner.
They have a little place in Northampton town centre with a modest hifi, this looks far better. Not sure they will get enough visitors in this location though.
Will have a visit some time.
Was wondering what else was there
Close study of the above book tells me that an essential element of a proper listening bar is an air of slightly down at heel dinginess. None of your bright corporate colour schemes here, we like brown.
âMan caveâ might be a better descriptor for Jazz Kissas
He can get to fuck with that microwave.
Aye, well. I am old enough to recall pubs and caffs with well stocked juke boxes. The microwave is probly for Greggâs pasties.
