Cp to my Mrs’ claustrophobia. Over the last few months, she’s been losing her hearing in one ear, so our doc sent her for an MRI scan.
After waiting for two hours in our local hospital’s MRI unit this morning, and despite that she’d taken a sedative (nitrazepam) prescribed by our doc after discussing her problem, she couldn’t go through with it.
Sadly, the other three of us are destined to be deafened by the TV volume for a little while longer…
If it was the banging confined tube I don’t blame her. I’m not claustrophobic but I didn’t enjoy the 20 minutes or whatever it was I spent in one. Send her my best wishes. Has she had any balance issues?
Cheers Guy. She didn’t get a far as being put in the tunnel, she couldn’t even stand having the mask/shield thing put over her face/head.
No balance problems. She’s always had an issue with one ear - had grommets and stuff since she was a kid in that one, but the failing one is her “good” ear, so her hearing is well down…
I had two 35 minute sessions in one once. Knowing what was going on on the other side of the plastic (big machinery very close in and moving worryingly quickly) I was, on balance, glad that the plastic was there. But still I was very grateful to get out when the time was up, and I’m not really claustrophobic at all.
Same here. I find it easier all round just not to have any contact with mine. We never really bonded so there’s not much to fall back on when it’s clear that you just don’t get on.
