Yet another thread for the purposes of awarding a cockpunch

Now do you see what I meant when I said it’ll soon be back on ebay…?

Got to work this morning and the cunt of a driver had only left it outside the door and placed the door mat on top of it to try to camoflauge it.
Of course it was bloody cold last night and then rained this morning so the box is prettty wet in various places.

Have taken photos and emailed UKmail and told them to sack the driver.

Have taken the amp (which was seriously cold) out of the box and leaving it to slowly warm up in my office - won’t know if it has been affected until later this afternoon.

I guess I could have said it wasn’t there when I got into work - lucky I work ina tiny quiet village as it could easily have been stolen - and then claimed my money back and kept the amp, though I doubt it was insured for full value so the seller would have been screwed and it’s not his fault.

Good job it’s not a Naim, or it’d take it four years to warm up

In all seriousness I’d give it at least a solid 24 hours in a warm, dry place before applying any power to it.

Should be fine though. I’ve had a variety of such experiences over the years with parcels-smasher-scum, and the only outright losses were lying cunts pretending they hadn’t received stuff.

Put it in Adam’s airing cupboard - then it can watch the paint dry :+1:

CP to British Airways - a “budget airline” experience at three times the price.

My last few experiences with BA is that it is a budget airline and that the prices were equitable with it’s competitors but that they depart from better airports.

I agree especially WRT short haul. Long haul in business class, their offering is “tired” when compared to others. I think they are suffering from not renewing their interiors and fleet as quickly as other airlines.

I flew to the States twice with BA about 2 years ago. The first flight was on a 777-300 from Heathrow and that was a pretty nice plane (and I was in cattle class too). The second flight was in I think an earlier 777 out of Gatwick, and that definitely felt more tired / dated. On the second trip I ended up coming back via Madrid on an Iberian airways plane. That was a really awful experience. Shitty plane and utterly dire food (the BA food wasn’t that bad).

I do a lot of long haul. BA and Quantas to Oz are a disgrace compared to Qatar and Emirates in terms of comfort, service and food. This is particularly true for business class where the newer carriers are miles ahead. Going to the USA is less of an issue as unless you are flying to the West Coast as the flights are not too long.

I normally pay about £60 return to fly to Germany, Munich or Cologne. This week I had to go to Frankfurt so I was stuck with BA. BA charged me £170 without hold baggage in “Euro Traveller” (=Economy.) For this you get:

  • On-line check-in or a machine at the airport. If available, you are given a middle seat. To change it for one of the many empty aisle or window seats costs £12.
  • You can take a a cabin bag, unless they arbitrarily take it off you at the gate. A hold bag is £65 each way - more than twice as much as EasyJet.
  • You get to board last, after Club Europe passengers, Executive Club Gold and OneWorld Emerald members, Executive Club Silver and OneWorld Sapphire members then Executive Club Bronze and OneWorld Ruby members. Not to mention families with young children etc etc.
  • Having fought your way to your middle seat and put your bag in an overhead locker six rows away, the plane takes off. 30 minutes late, because Heathrow.
  • No free food or drinks, just an overpriced trolley service.

Either the same or worse than EasyJet in every way. But three times the price.

Yep, and sometimes ruder than Ryanair too. To be fair though, my worst recent experience was Liverpool to Dublin with Aer Lingus at 12 hours notice. Massively expensive, filthy plane, and to make matters worse, turbo props so noisy as fuck. NEVER.AGAIN.

Thankfully, Aer Lingus seem to have cancelled this ‘service’ now.

In comparing BA and Qantas to Qatar and Emirates you are not comparing equals. Qatar and Emirates employ mostly young people who don’t get ill and have low pay and limited/no pension rights and can have their contracts terminated when they get older so they can afford to spend more on luxuries for the passenger. Is that what you would want for BA/Qantas crew because if it is then we should look forward to that being another benefit for all of us as a result of Brexit and the resulting ‘liberation’ in working terms and conditions?

I would also include Singapore and Cathay Pacific as examples of better VFM than BA or Quantas flying to Oz and if I wanted to fly on older planes I would usually chose Thai as the food and service is better, they are typically much cheaper and I like staging through Bangkok.

I’m not going to get into a discussion on working conditions for Quantas as they are unlikely to improve post-Brexit. As for BA, I have tried to avoid using them as much as possible for at least 20 years. IIRC the last time I did a long flight with them was to Mauritius. That was enormously expensive and very, very mediocre. Luckily, I was working so I didn’t pay for the tickets, but the people who did got very poor VFM.
