My mate had an answer to such invites…he wore a pair of dungarees with a pair of knickers stuffed in the bib pocket. When asked what he came as…a chest of draw(er)s. No one asked him to go to another FD party again. Result!
Then there is all the chat beforehand… "
Them… “oh what are you going as? I’m going as…”
Me…" Let me stop you there…you are going as a cunt".
I am extremely fucking unhappy.
Go in hot pants and a spangly boob tube
…on roller skates
You could always go as a miserable moaning Scotch woman, which you wouldn’t have any problem pulling off without any costume or preparation
just go in your normal clothes and when questioned tell them PWC delivered the wrong invitation.
CP to my agency, contract finished today and still haven’t received the extension, looks like I’ll be taking a holiday next week. Public sector agency I’ve been working for have been great making sure we are outside IR35 but the agency is now acting like a bunch of fuckwits.
Dual cockpunch and fist up the arse to BT Openreach.
They can’t swap over a working line to our new shop for nearly 4 weeks.
Means we can’t open for Easter, but may be in line for a very generous £10 in compo.
Cunts!
Why would a public sector employer encourage someone to work outside IR35? IR35 is intended to prevent disguised employment and the rampant abuse of one person companies as a tax avoidance method.
Ask TfL or the met office as they told all contractors that they are going to be IR35 last year.
TfL are going back on that decision as 30/32 contractors walked out but the met office lost 29 contractors and they still haven’t filled any of the vacancies with permies 5 months later.
I find it utterly bizarre that a tax payer funded public body would encourage the use of contract staff outside of IR35 in direct contradiction of Government policy.
That is a different debate to the use of contract vs permanent staff. There is a drive from Government to reduce the use of contract staff as they tend to cost 8 times more to empoly. I know my bit of the MOD ditched a load just before Christmas and has been recruiting permies since, many of those recruited were the ex-contract staff.
Pensions.
Incidentally, there are apparently three public sector organisations which use a lot of contractors through PSCs, all apparently with stuff like proper substition clauses, who aren’t covered by the new requirement.
One is by the side of the Thames, one is in Cheltenham and it doesn’t take much intelligence to work out the link between all three. Yes, substituion clauses…
Belated thanks for the link. I ordered a set and they sound ridiculously good for £60!
I think the heads of those public agencies should be held to account in front of select committees in Parliament. It is scandalous that tax payers money is used to pay people outside of IR35.
They can pay them including IR35, they just need to raise the rate by 25%, so it could be seen to be more cost effective to pay outside IR35.
So 30 contractors @ £500 a day, that is £125 x 30 per day extra for IR35.
Two sides to every story.
I wasn’t debating it, you are.
I was just cockpunching my agency for not having my contract ready
Have you got your outfit on yet?
Why would they need to raise the rate?
I must be a bit thick 'ere, so do bare with me. I though all contractors selling their labour either direct or via an agent to an employee had to comply with the IR35 regs if they were a one man band PLC.
