Yorks Dales roast off #2, Sep 13-15 2019

It would be helpful if those who have not yet paid could do so - I am trying to work out what we can afford on the current balance.

We could really do with a few more contributors too, so if you know anyone who might be interested then please invite them along.

Will send a summary when I have an idea of how things stand.

Dave, how well equipped is the kitchen? i.e. pans? plates? cutlery? cooking stuff (knives/spatulas)?

Very good, though if you want really sharp knives it’s best to take your own. I’ve done a dinner for 36 with the kit there.

I’m hoping / assuming that:

  • Friday night will be pre-cooked meat (@DiveDeepDog will bring a pot of chili, and I will bring something too). People will be arriving at varying times, so something that will keep warm is best here.
  • Saturday lunch we should have at least one Ooni for pizza, and could do some BBQ kebabs/chicken as well. The outdoor party may arrive back hungry mid-afternoon, and a couple more are arriving Saturday pm.
  • Saturday evening I’m not sure about - your butter chicken, Paul? and/or is anyone willing to do pulled pork, either BBQ or oven? We can also do some quick BBQ stuff if needed

Good news that, might bring some old knives or might bring a good set.

I’d also suggest if funds allow some of the very fine Broster’s pies for Saturday hungry hippos, what do you think?

I am happy to do butter chicken, I can bring the sauce and ingredients for the marinade
Dave: could you sort the chicken, skinless breasts or skinless thighs (Rob stop it!) - these will need to be grill / BBQ and then dropping into the warm sauce. Rice as well?

also Dave Do you want me to bring the yoghurt for the marinade? or?

Can you leave some chicken unbuttered for the ones who just like plain no frills chicken

I reckon he’s not actually allergic to fish as he says - it’s just psychosomatic. I cooked him a curry a while back and put loads of fish sauce in it (because seasoning) and he enjoyed it (and kept it down)

Maybe we should hold him down and force-feed him salmon for experimental reasons. :joy::joy:

fermented…

Please remember that we have to leave the place in a decent state… any suggesting this will be doing the clean-up! :face_vomiting:

I have a biggish, but basic BBQ I could bring with some charcoal if needed @octh

I was bringing chilli, you were doing stew? Otherwise we enter blind taste-off territory

I’ve never said I’m allergic to it. If I can’t taste it, I’m fine. If I do, then :face_vomiting:

Change of plan, I’ve had an extremely generous offer from my former neighbour who has moved to Fife. She is going to come up here for a fortnight and live in my house to look after the girls for me.

That means I can attend this now, spend more time with my Dad and also go to my mate’s 60th Birthday party on the 21st.

Happy :grinning:

Balance paid btw. :+1:

I can’t thank her enough, it’s a remarkably generous thing for her to do.
