YouTube music ramblings

Could have put this in the shit I just learned thread.

I always thought it was just a random woman’s head on top of Hugh cornwell on the sleeve.

It’s been my favourite cover track for 46 years, and only just found out it’s Dionne Warwick’s head.

Dean just shared this on faecesbook, and I nostalgia’d hard -

A blast from the past just popped up on FaecesBook…

Led by Darryl Cotton, the band were formed in Adelaide and became a birthplace of iconic Aussie bands such as;
Darryl Cotton - Burns, Cotton, and Morris, actor, TV persenter
Beeb Birtles - Mississippi, Little River Band
Rick Springfield - the Rick Springfield Band (Jessie’s Girl), Actor, and philanthropist
Rick Brewer - The Ferrets, session work.

Worth watching. We’ve all heard Classical Gas, but the second part of a purely acoustic cover is epic…

Tommy Emmanuel is a bit special.

Serious nostalgia.

Not sure if I should say this out loud, but I own a Little River album.
Thankfully with the ROW cover

Not the Aussie cover

Is that you bottom middle?

When I eventually get the hi-fi set up again this will be the first thing played - 4 Hero’s finest moment imo.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would - Japanman does 70’s soul @Ruprecht

I knew a grand total of two of them! Such a huge music devouring country there are many many home grown gems (particularly jazz but folk, classical and psych too). Never really been convinced by Japanese blues but I’m open to it! I could rack up a seismic debt given a few weeks alone over there.

I know we laugh tongue-in-cheek at the Japanman thing but when I watch videos like this I genuinely love the fact that they always try and present the music as best they can. It reminds me of the whole Dave Mancuso Loft ethos as well - great music deserves a great listening environment.

Compare this to that crossley abomination you posted - just goes to show money can’t buy you taste.

Well that’s spoiled my evening - going to have to fix that

My rule is that where there are variants, the top-level entry on Discogs wins

I only ever half joke about Japan, they get a lot very right, aspirationally right

Which of course instantly contradicts itself

That’s it in a nutshell for me.

I’ll never reach the heights they achieve with some of their hi-fi (nor would I want to with their more extreme efforts) but I’m hoping to get at least part way there with the new listening room :crossed_fingers:

Who killed the KLF. Sky Arts now

Post punk Japanman. This appears to be some sort of battle of the bands type thing . . .
