Seeing the double drummer post always takes me back to my first gig in 77 at Hammersmith.
Iād only heard of them 2 nights earlier when they did this on the old grey. Wire were the support band,and the concert was recorded for their what do you want from live album.
As one reviewer said,after seeing the tubes live,you are going to feel ripped off when you see other bands. And all for Ā£2.50

I had a cool aunt (dad was square) who was only 7 or 8 years older than me but had a great record collection of Bowie, Roxy Music, VU etc and in the early 80s she played and bought me stuff like Talking heads, Human League and Japan etc. When I first heard Tin Drum I couldnāt get over that amazing sound and asked her āwhat is that wierd instrument?ā which I had no idea was Mick Karnās unique bass sound.

Yes itās a weird one,because at the time they were seen as Annie nightingale says as just a pretty looking boy band type artists. Iām not sure how much they were appreciated at the time.
For myself it was only listening to Sylvian stuff years later that I went back to listen to Japan
Unfortunately they were lobbed into the same category of early 80s pop artists of Duran,culture club,spandau etc.
