We’ve been together 30+ years. I sleep through it. She says I snore too, although I suspect that’s just an echo. The sort of thing that wakes me, for example, is insomniacs rummaging about in the vehicle next to mine at what felt like 03:30.
The noise cancelling headphones are good on planes, but they roll off at quite a low frequency (just a few hundred hertz I think). So you need earplugs too or, with the engine noise eliminated, you can hear every word of the chatterboxes behind you yammering all the way from Atlanta to Heathrow.
Tried 3 sets of 15 push ups with 1 min rest. Managed 10 just on last set. Did a few more sets of 10 to make it up to 70 total. That’ll do for breaking back into it
Update - I have been at 13 Stone for nearly a month and doing a fair amount of exercising and now I have decided on what to do for phase two. That is to slowly lose another stone over five months. This put my BMI below 25 - I am thin boned so it’s right for me I think. I am struggling with tabata exercises as my shoulder issue is very limiting atm. I simply cannot just throw my right arm in the air let alone do a burpee. What is good is my current RHR of 49 and BP 106/65.
My most recent exercise - An 18.5 mile walk in six hours - My feet were a little sore after.
I am eying up the idea of running a 10K next year.
Switching to slow and steady is very wise now, as you settle into changing habits in a gradual and sustainable way.
Eyeing up a 10k too - good on you, bet you wouldn’t have thought that a few months ago?
Have you had your shoulder diagnosed? I don’t want to suggest any mobility or soft tissue work just in case you’ve got a more serious condition to resolve first.
For Tabata you can pick anything that is low impact and will get your heart rate up for 20 seconds. You could just go core and legs if you wanted.
I think my GP said a Subscapularis Inflammation - I will find out more on 15th August as I have a referral to specialist clinic. He said that I shouldn’t play Squash ( I wasn’t) and that doing normal things won’t make it worse. It has got a little better, still limited movement though.
Yes jogging is a surprise - I did enjoy it at school but have not run since I had a minor knee injury in 1981 when training for a marathon
I had something similar - had a cortisone injection which worked a treat followed by physio - try and get a physio who is an expert on shoulders - over c.6 weeks most of the movement came back for me and I now have pretty much 100%.
After a weeks rest from jogging today a three miler. I was thinking that I was taking it pretty easy. My previous run showed an average HR was 141 this time 157. My total time for this week in peak was 38mins including 30mins from todays run. Note I had 800 mins in fat burn for the week
Holding off running at the minute with a sore heel, so it’s swimming and weights at the moment. Last night did a DB routine of squats, deadlifts, one arm row, bench press and shoulder raises. Off for a swim tonight.
