The manager has nothing to do with transfer policy. Why would we willingly want to sell our best player?

He wanted to leave because we signed Bakayoko. Roman allowed him to go to the club of his choice just like Cech.

Just packed a bag for Hull v Wolves tomorrow.

Proper test of our mettle. My first home game this season. Not quite the same as the big league, though. :sob:

As I understood it, Bakayoko was intended to play alongside Matic as they arenā€™t at all the same kind of midfielder. Anyhow, it appears thatā€™s two that Jose has pulled on Conte so far this summer. He must be quietly amused by both of them.

Iā€™ll bet there are a good few Southampton fans who ask that same question most summers.

Not so. Bakayoko and Kante were defensive barrier. Jose was very surprised when he was allowed to sign Matic as he stated a couple of days ago. Conte was upset because he still wanted Matic in the squad. That is why he is upset.

Klippity Klopp must be involved in the transfer committee, even though it might not be him doing the abject negotiations once targets are decided.

Top players wonā€™t come to us because we donā€™t offer mega wages and we do not offer guaranteed silverware or even guaranteed Champions League football - we arenā€™t even in it this year yet.
Hoffenheim were the best set piece team in the Budesliga last year - should be like shooting fish in a barrel playing against our defence.
If we can scrape past Hoffenheim then maybe we can have a late burst of transfer activity, including getting shot of Coutinho for Ā£100m+.

From the Independentā€¦

Tiemoue Bakayoko was signed from Monaco, to complement Matic rather than replace him. Bakayoko is currently out injured, leaving Chelsea with Cesc Fabregas and Nā€™Golo Kante as central midfielders.

ā€œMy idea was to give Bakayoko the right time to adapt in this league behind Matic,ā€ Conte said. ā€œBut now after the sale of Matic, we need to try to accelerate this process for Bakayoko after his injury.ā€ Conte described the departure of Matic as a ā€œgreat lossā€ to Chelsea and has said it was a boardroom decision.

He must be livid & presumably Chelsea needed the Ā£40M to balance their books.

Hmm, check our wage bill.

Spot on.

Maybe not for much longer

And you all thought I was being silly.:sunglasses:

And this sort of ownership has worked so well in the past with Blackburn, Charlton, Coventry, Fulham, Aston Villa, Cardiff, Birmingham. Wolves.

It was an American owner that fucked Villa before the Chinese arrived. Bruce now appears to be trying to finish the bloody job. Chinese guys okay if a little over enthusiastic.

Unlike their supporters. :grinning:

Spuds are in for Davison Sanchez of Ajax. Now that is a player I would like to see down at Chelsea.

Try watching what Iā€™ve had to put up with for the past 6 years and letā€™s see how enthusiastic you are

Iā€™ve said it before, and Iā€™ll keep on saying itā€¦BRUCE IS A CUNT!!!

Pretty much the chant at the end of the Cardiff game

Good. No team deserves that cunt managing them. He fucked us over well and truly. Just like heā€™s fucked over every team heā€™s managed.
