Seating position is way too high for a start.
Nor me, but compared to the Jag, the Z4 looks pretty modern. The Jag just says Nigel Farage.
It’s a tough brief. At £8k I’d have another MX-5 100 times out of 100. If I was seven feet tall I’d save up for a Corniche.
You could buy a fat Corolla and take an angle grinder to it. 
It’ll do 30mpg on a run as @edd9000 recently demonstrated.

My mate just bought a TR7 with a V8 in it. Sporty, roomy and well in budget - but probably not what the OP had in mind!
Nice shout that.
I nearly bought one, the v6 sounds superb, problem is they do less than 20mpg.

I’ve owned several cars and none of them have made my penis measurably larger. 
Not tried measuring mine, but it deffo looks bigger in the mirror since getting a Porsche
