2020 Formula One

It’s been fucked up by the likes of Balestre, Mosley, Ecclestone, and Ferrari since the mid 80s. I can only see a media driven cock fight from the current owners, unless they put a poacher turned gamekeeper in a leadership rather than a consultancy role.
Step forward Ross Brawn.
He ain’t perfect, but in the absence of our own @f1eng Dernie and @IanW Wright, I don’t see anybody else with the credentials.

Looks like Vettel’s final year in F1 is going to be one of mumbling excuses.

Can’t believe some of them won’t take a knee. Hopefully those whose apparent local sensitivities change their mind.

Strange, you would think that Austria would be a natural home of anti-racism.

Indeed, for clarity it appears to be local sensitive in some drivers home countries.

Lol! My mum is Austrian, and I dearly love my family over there, but White Exceptionalism is the default setting there, to the extent that they’d never actually conceive that they’re racist, it’s just blatantly obvious to them that white is better than black.

Yeah I was being ironic :kissing_heart:

I know, just felt the need to comment.

My dad is Austrian and this is so spot on Rob. They really do see themselves as superior, talking to my aunts about holidays and visiting other European countries is an eye-opener! One Auntie could only stomach holidaying in Maderia, nowhere else in Europe was acceptable and dont get them started on Eastern Europe. Fuck me!

Mozart, lots of Strauss’s, Hedy Lamarr, Arnie. what more proof do you need?

Frank would be much better placed to sort out the rules than I would.

I know my area of expertise and know my limitations, and am fully aware that I would not be a good Technical Director. And to develop the rules requires the knowledge and experience of a really good technical director.

I think that Ross took the approach that there is little wrong with F1, so we will try to change the rules a bit to get closer to what the fans want.

Whereas I think that it would have been good if they had decided what they wanted in terms of an F1 show and then did some simulations to show that could be achieved from a sporting perspective, and then looked at the technical regs to go with a different set of sporting regs.

Then he would have had a wider range of options to consider, with many aspects defined and costed.

Leaving the rules alone has allowed the grid to close up again, which will result in closer racing throughout the season, just like to did today.

At least we have another season of close racing before the rules are changed and the big teams get to move ahead again.

Changing the rules every 3 years or so guarantees that the smaller teams do not get near to the big teams. Whilst for the big 3 teams it does allow an opportunity for a new team to dominate.

Leaving the Hamilton / Albon incident to one side incredible podium for Lando Norris and fastest lap to McLaran!

I can’t believe how emotional I got at the start of the race. Being without F1 has been a real struggle for me. As for the race;
Some great racing, lots going on, poor reliability (insufficient running), and some race-rusty drivers.
Albon on Hamilton ? Harsh ! I’m no Hamilton Fanboi, but that was HARSH ! A “racing incident” at worst. Albon was strong, and showed great spirit. No penalty should have been applied.
What it did though was to allow a great 1-2-3.
Especially happy for Lando Norris. One of the most likable drivers in the Pitlane.
While one swallow does not a summer make, McLaren have shown an improved turn of speed this weekend. Sadly, both Red Bulls (second fastest) went out.
Vettel continues his run of poor racing judgement. It does support the argument that Seb can’t fight in the midfield. In order to win, he has to lead from the off.

Overall a good race.

I hope the rest of the season is like that👍.

This. Well all of it. But especially that. Only slight mar to an entertaining race.

And this :+1:

Thanks for posting that. Frank was very much on form there!

Spec racing formulae are indeed the work of the devil!
