2020 Formula One

Sadly not

Only been to f1 once in I think 77
Was called race of champions or something at brands hatch

That was a non-championship race. No points. Drivers used them as training and experience. Can’t do them any more because money/contract reasons.

Yes, just found it, makes me feel bloody old

Feels almost like pathe news

Been to a few at Silverstone and went to see Jean Alesi at his last GP at Suzuka, that was ace, though he didn’t last long in that…

A blast from the past with Frank talking aerodynamics to someone I had to Google as I did not know of Ben Bowlby, who was introduced as the next Colin Chapman.

Frank, you clearly had a very good understanding of aerodynamics many years ago!

Thanks for that, it is now going around the auto engineering connections of MrsKettle.

Sad news:

Stirling Moss dies.

Legend, very sad, but a good inning’s where many a racing driver didn’t survive.

:disappointed:

That is sad. Not somebody that I always agreed with but he had a full and lengthy life. A great driver who was fair and decent (on the track/road).

That time of year again

Was really surpised to hear this this morning: thought they’d have managed to land an agreement.

There are plenty of options, as always, for Ferrari, but it’s difficult to see where Seb goes from here, and (I’m gonna be in the minroty on this one) while we don’t know what’s gonna become of this season, it would be one hell of a crap way for a very deserving champion to bow out.

I’m nickin that.

Didn’t like the lad, but agreed it’s a dumb way to depart, since it’s hard to see him in F1 at-all after this. It’s a foot-shooting exercise - shoulda swallowed the bitter pill with dignity, got used to CL’s sloppy seconds, and Kimi’d the fuck out of a nice long, slow, profitable retirement…

Vettel has claimed that the decision had nothing to do with Ferrari offering him less money for a 2021 contract extension.
I don’t buy it.
Ayrton Senna was once quoted as saying, ā€œI don’t care what I get paid, as long as it is $1 more than the other guy.ā€

I suspect there is also a lot of - Leclerc is Ferrari’s future and equal status is becoming an issue.

This…especially the last part

Oh, and I found this, but didn’t know whether to post it here or in the ā€œAussie says something intelligent, SHOCKā€ thread
