Those who’ve followed F1 have become numb to controversy.
Dunno, my dad who has followed it for decades is still FUMIN!!
“Install a Commission”
That’s the equivalent of a Ministerial Inquiry which goes along the lines of.
Aim ball at long grass, wait a year, kick very hard.
Interesting that several sponsors have congratulated Verstappen on being crowned F1 champ, but not on winning the championship.
That’s a bit of sophistry that will be lost on nearly everyone, until it’s pointed out to them.
From Mercedes F1:
“The reason we protested the race result on Sunday was because the Safety Car regulations were applied in a new way that affected the race result.”
That protest has been withdrawn; reasons for the withdrawal tbc.
Nowt dodgy here. Nope. Nothing to see here, move along…
Buried under all the vitriol.
“Rules are rules”. How ironic.
New FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem has refused to rule out punishing Lewis Hamilton for boycotting its awards ceremony on Thursday.
Following on he did say that he was willing to talk to Lewis and perhaps they could meet up at the Saudi consulate in Turkey to discuss things further.
Or Lewis could just say Fuck Off.
‘I race in Saudi because I have to but I hate everything your regime stands for and won’t coperate one inch more than I have to,’

Perhaps you could explain which bit of your post was funny?
If you mean meeting at an asssination site, then it passed me by
I know next to nothing about him, but at least he’s not a Saudi, and has genuine, lifelong history in motorsport. His wiki page is suspiciously shrieky-clean - is there dirt to be dished?
It was more about the increasing number of races in the region and the change of leadership. I knew little of his background.
He’s been V-P since 2008 and in that time races in the region have proliferated. I’m not convinced it’s great for the sport 'tis all. I’m sure he’s happy.
Totally agree with you that the ‘pay-per-credibility’ races are not an asset, most especially SA, and the mostly-empty stands at each of them speak volumes. What I don’t know is how much actual influence he’s had on those choices, versus the simple lure of the filthiest of Filthy Lucre.
I guess if there are skellingtons, they will appear in time.
I’m simply an ol’ cynic.
Oh aye, and I’m not contradicting you, you’ll almost certainly prove to be right…
Penalising Lewis would be a splendid way of convincing him to retire!
I must say I am beginning to think RIP Formula One as I have known it all my life.
The technical rule change and new way of selecting events, and the number of them, means what I have known is coming to an end.
I hope it works out.
I know you have felt that it was on this path for a while Frank. I have a lot of empathy for that view.
I have regularly espoused that, for me, the politics is just as much a part of the entertainment as the racing.
I agree that F1 isn’t a iota of it’s former self. It also appears to be a on a one way journey up it’s own fundamental orifice.
I for one, will be enjoying the bittersweet implosion.
