3D printing horns

Could you not have blind holes so that you could glue metal threaded inserts in and use machine screws? That would be a neater solution than self tappers.

What do you think of making a thick ring on the base? That would save a lot of PLA and work just as well, I reckon. What is the radius of the mounting holes in the adapter @Wayward ?

That’s what I’d do. Adam sticks his fingers in his ears when I suggest things like that. :grinning:

Yeah that would work, good plan!

Self tappers are for butchers…

The PCD is 90mm as mentioned.

I’d go with Paul’s suggestion, but I understand your preference to cut corners where possible.

I’ll see if I can find the CAD files for the adapters.

I’ve sent you the file for the adapter.

How many holes? Or CAD file is fine.

These, then?

Those would likely pull out. I’d use something more like this:

Actually, I have some M6 threaded inserts that you could use.

Stupid link doesn’t work properly. Click on the second option:

Gives more of a ridge to secure them.

Or glue some of these in - I have lots:

What about screw in ones, with glue added?

Yeah, as post above. I have lots.

And don’t just use any old shite, find some Loctite Threadlock. There’ll be one suitable for the metal/plastic combination you use.

Can’t I just use @MGOwner ?

PLA is thermoplastic, so you could make the holes undersized and heat the inserts to insert them.

“Heatserts” are a thing for 3D printed stuff.

Well there’s ten minutes I just spent on the Henkel Adhesives website that I’m never gonna get back

Or just cast them in with expoxy?

Yeah, if they’re knurled but if they have a thread and you’re going to screw them in, I would use the Loctite

Threads in PLA are a bit crap, so I’d prefer plain holes and epoxy them in. But if the threads print ok, then yeah.
