55 inch 4K Television

CX ?

Well virgin can supply everything, phone, broadband, and tv package. If you watch sports, you may want one of the Sky sports channels, or a BT tv box, which has the BT sports channels, and do the Sky as well.
The chances are, you will not use the tuner in the tv, anyway.

nope 2019 OLED55B8SLC

Got it from John Lewis last year for £1200 with a 5 year warranty.

The 2020 models don’t have catch up
I think they have now agreed a contract for iPlayer but nothing else

Must be bigger.

ah well, snooze you lose.

If you buy one of those CX models you can swap it with mine as I never use the catch up apps

It is only happening because I am moving.
If I was staying here I would probably stick with the 9 year old 42" Panasonic I have now (With all the catch up channels)

If you like watching sport, it’s far better on a 65".

That is good to hear because throughout this thread that is the size I have said I am getting.
Nice to get your choices approved though :grinning:

A rare thing on this forum, I would normally expect someone to tell me that what I really should be getting was a DAC. :grinning:

I also agree with you about not buying an LG because it doesn’t have the apps you need. One of the major advantages of these smart tv’s is that everything is built in.

How many of you actually use the apps on your tv, as opposed to the apps on the box, you receive the tv signal on?
Don’t most of you have a Sky or cable box, and use the apps there?
We have a recorder in our box, and use it for everything.
My wife records a lot, and uses it for time shifting. She can then watch any program she is interested in, when she wants, then delete or keep.
As some programs are worth keeping, and the catch up services only keep them for a month, seems a no brainer.
We do not use the tv remote at all. The box remote controls everything, and we use the apps from there.

I don’t have sky or a cable box
I use the tv remote

I use the Plex, Netflix and amazon apps on my TV and catchup is via SkyQ

The TV is connected to the internet you don’t need a cable or sky box or any other box if you don’t want to record anything. But if there is the odd thing you want to record the TV will record it via USB.

Netflix utube and Iplayer directly on Toshiba tv - No boxes

I use the Netflix, Amazon, Disney, YouTube and internet browser apps. I’ve got a humax for terrestrial TV and recording.

we do - also use the apps on the VM box. We use both remotes - record on the VM box…

I’m thinking of getting an apple tv to go with mine. The little Roku box is great but it’s old and a bit underpowered these days
