Richer Sounds is your friend
The T is this years.
Our LG oled developed a fault and needed a new panel. Very glad I bought it from Richer Sounds with their 6 year warranty, one phone call and 3 days later chap turns up with new panel and fixed it in about 10 minutes.
That is customer service from another age
I got my Philips from richer sounds, they had the 55 too I’m sure. The ambilight is very nice
Think we need two tellies. The kitchen one is too small. The main one is too big to go in there. Just get a cheap one for then kitchen.
Wanted Freebiew play for the main telly, so it rules out LG for the moment.
Might wait until new year sales so we can have a look at them. Then have a massive argument about spending over a grand on a telly.
We needed a new Telly last year because new kitchen reasons. I ended up getting a fantastic deal for two tellies from Richer Sounds and £400 cashback from Samsung in the January sales. I would have paid pretty much the same money for a single TV in the black Friday ‘sales’. I think the second telly was under £150 and the kids all got new headphones for buttons.
I think we will pop over to Richersounds in MK after Christmas. And probably John Lewis as it is close.
After looking around I don’t feel the need to rush.
Plans changed. Went to RicherSounds and John Lewis yesterday. Was just thinking of getting a led or maybe a qled telly as had a very spendy week. Wifey saw the oled’s. Just ordered a Philips 55" 805. I do like my wifey. 'Specially as it is on her card.
Will get a 32" at some point.
When we were in JL there was a really fucking annoying bloke from LG, just banging on about how amazing they were and everything else was useless.
I did borrow a large sheet of paper from bloke at work today. He got it from JL, and if you origami it a bit it shows the sizes of the most popular panel sizes to see if it will fit. Nice that it.
Good choice, we love ours
New telly arrived. It is quite big. Wouldn’t want any bigger.
Watching Our Planet in 4K. Quite adequate.
You see, the earth really is flat, all 55" of it.
Still watching mostly wildlife stuff in 4K.
Just watched Star Trek. Amazing how quickly you get used to a bigger screen.
My 50" had gone tits up, it’s an LG and the power supply issues are well known. A replacement OLED can be had for less than 450 quid so I can’t be arsed with s repair.
The new 4k gear come with apps that will replace my now TV box and Amazon firestick which is great. The freeview YouTube box gives me the ability to record, which I like as not all freeview is available on catch up and those that are can be a day or more before available.
I notice some TVs have PVR, an I right in thinking this is a built in recorder? If so do I need aUSB stick to record to our do they come with built in hard drive?
ours (LG OLED about 4 years old) needs a USB stick. Haven’t tried it as VM is good at this
We have always used a dedicated pvr/blu-ray/dvd player. Gives you masses of room to record, and we keep a lot of things.
Very flexible, and comes with all the apps.
We watch all out tv through the pvr.
Where did you find an OLED that cheap?
VM is?
If a tv has PVR, and most seem to have a tick next to that box and I can get freeview on the TV my assumption is that I can ditch my youview box.
You can’t, they are all still stupid prices, I was wrong. Just 4k HD LED, which is still better than my 2010 LG. In a couple of years OLED will be 400 quid and some new kid on the block will be a grand. Not a game im playing.
