Actually, on second reading, not same.
Ours was all camouflage and big boots.
I think the stat was that 70% of my year went into the forces, even some of the most unlikely characters.

My introduction to Chennai was a tuk-tuk from the airport (insanely bad idea as it’s much too far for one of those bloody things), which nearly got turned on its roof swerving to avoid an unlit elephant… It was 1999 and once I’d made peace with Ganesh, I took time to be astonished that working-elephants were still A Thing at-all, never mind a part of the daily commute… It was the ideal introduction for what was to come, as it set the standard for the coming months: stuff like the insane wiring rapidly ceased to be meaningful…

Our road’s closed for a few weeks - redirection signs went up a week ago all round the area. Dozens of 'em.
The aluminium sign plates went within three days, just leaving the steel folding frames as too little scrap value to be worth nicking.
Lovely people of course, very misunderstood and unfairly persecuted, certain it was gorgers did it
