Parasol mushroom - very tasty (give them another 24 hours so they can spread their spores, tho’. …aaand assuming you trust the advice of a borderline psychotic, sleep-deprived stranger on t’interwebs… :ok_hand:).

We occasionally find the shaggy parasols. Delicious.

Nice. You’re one of the lucky ones who don’t have an allergic reaction to them. I can get away with yellow-stainers, but shaggys give me the raging blatters.

Shame, cos parasols are fabulous mushrooms, very flavoursome and with a nice chew to 'em.

Noticed some mushrooms on this mornings dog walk, patch decided to shit on them

Looking at the pics of both maybe they were just parasols. Lovely nutty flavour. Would go beautifully with some pineapple on a pizza.

Shaggys like to hide a bit under shrubs and bushes, greyer, more monotonal, more thickset - usually, there’s always variability (plus there are small species of parasols that are toxic to anyone, so never eat small ones…).
True parasols are more open-space shrooms, more bicolour tan and cream, even bigger, and with a slimmer stem and wider, flatter cap.

There are certain 'shrooms that some people are allergic to and some not, it’s probably genetically mediated. They’re not dangerous, but if you discover you react to shaggys (or yellow-stainers), you won’t eat them twice!
