Air Fryers

So cooking times are no faster?

I would say cooking times are faster, at least for things I tend to cook - in part due to the heat, and its circulation in a small compartment.

Haloumi for example cooks great as it does it very evenly (without having to keep flipping it on a frying pan etc) and has a nice crisp texture - all in about 8 mins.

I’ll try halloumi, that’s a really good idea.

The M&S popcorn cauliflower is great done in it - comes out really crispy, much better than in our oven. The air flow is much better with the open trays.

@J_B things that say 15 minutes are done in slightly less than that from a cold oven. It’s important to realise that it’s not magic, it’s just a convection oven, but it’s fast to heat up and uses more convection than standard fan assisted ovens. It’s great for getting things crispy, but they’re not fried.

Also paneer skewers are a doddle if you have the accessories for your AF (amazon is a good place to find these). Marinade paneer cubes, mushrooms, chunks of pepper, onion etc with a tikka paste for a few hours, and then whack them on the skewers, sit these on the stands so the air flows around them and they are also something than does very nicely in less than ten minutes

At the risk of inflaming forum war, hot cross buns (actually it was Alban buns this morning) work really well in the air fryer. Warms them up quickly, slightly crisps and caramelises the outside while the inside remains soft.

Halved or full bun ?

Full bum

(Swypo obviously had to remain)

Eventually got round to buying this. Went for the 15 in 1 thingy. It’s on offer at Amazon for £249 if anyone is looking for one:

Are you going to use it for weightlifting?

good choice. it’s great.

Used it Saturday to air fry a couple of pork steaks and then on Sunday used it to steam a couple of turkey breasts to have with a bit of salad. Brilliant bit of kit.

It’s heavy enough.

Surrendered to the want so just had one of these delivered

To be perfectly honest I bought it to cook the girls’ chicken. I calculated, very roughly, that it should pay for itself over 2 years if I use it for nothing else.

Saying that, I will experiment with it. Any suggestions for a decent (preferably metric) recipe book?

Same here. From what I’ve read the stainless steel model was £219 when launched so I took the plunge when I saw it for £130 delivered at Amazon.

I have long wanted a dual drawer air fryer but I simply wasn’t prepared to spend the £200+ on a Ninja.

Thanks for posting Paul. I wasn’t aware of this brand and this model seems to be very well reviewed.

Looking forward to testing it tonight with a chicken breast and chips.

Here it is looking right at home in gadget corner. :grinning:
