Angling - watcha caught?

@Pilgrim It’s only taken me a couple of years to realise your recommendation! Got any tips for setting up the braking system?

I don’t do much with mine tbh. Clean and lube and that’s it. And make sure the brake blocks are inside :grinning:

Thanks, not much more than in the instructions then!

Not sure when I can go yet but won’t be long. I fancy ‘The Boats’ at Dungeness. Apparently there is a gully/gutter you can see at low water, where the shingle ends and there is sand at the bottom. The bass get in there as the tide turns I’m told…
Watch me blank. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ah yes, familiar with Sandgate. I went recently feathering for mackerel to no avail. Bass (or any sea fish for that matter) not really my thing but living near the coast makes me want to give it more of a go. Happy catching anything tbh. I have now (recently) got a two rod beach set up, so all local direction gratefully recieved!

Bass

Mackerel

Hope you recognise both spots
If you like dab anywhere along the right of the rocks all the way along to the imperial hotel

Haha, no dont know either of those spots! I usually come in from Hythe and park just before the houses start on the beach side. I rarely go further than The Castle - I think that’s what it’s called. The bass spot looks like Hythe end and the Mackerel spot the Folkestone end, Is that correct?

The other way around :grinning:
I’ll pm a map with the exact details of the various locations and best bait options

Very cool! I’m going to try somewhere this weekend whatever and probably Dungy because reasons, but when you have the time that would be great! :+1:

Not much about down at the Dungeness point
Littlestone doing better for a bit of fun fishing
Station Rd turn left head up until you get to Madeira Rd park up and the sea is 20 yards from your car.
Dungeness is a few minutes down the coast rd

Fishin’ it old skool . . .

For smallmouth bass . . .

That was a decent fish. Caught another smaller . . .

Landed another small fish that I didn’t bother getting a pic of, and lost three other pipsqueaks.

Nice day . . .

That would take up my whole pond !

Last night’s eel and tonight’s bream both on ledgered luncheon meat from the Kennet & Avon.

Was more effective once I’d made up a rudimentary hair rig.

Looks great Guy

Whereabouts on the K&A, Guy?

Near the Dundas aqueduct, the Eastern end of it runs into a right angle bend. Some local lads turned up on the other bank yesterday evening and also had a few nice roach and bream although on floats and not using such big lumps of meat as I was!

No carp takes though :frowning:

Pretty spot. (this morning, early)

Better pic of aqueduct by BiL this morning

Further along back up the valley towards Avoncliff.

Ah yes, have been there.

The area that I fished for carp - didn’t catch any but friends did - was around Rusty Lane swing bridge. I remember there were some bushes on the far bank just above the bridge, which were a bit of a hot spot. Fair while ago though now, although carp live long lives!

The boat is being kept in the Hilperton marina at Staverton so no doubt we’ll do an excursion East past Seend at some point. I’ll have a look when we do.
