Found a pic! This is west of the bridge but you can see the bushes beyond on the east side. My friend used to moor the boat this end of the bushes and float fish meat or corn off the back of it. I always thought it was a bit noisy but it was an easier cast to the far bank after dark. The fish seemed to be tight to the bank on the shelf where it’s shallow. Strong tackle required! I never saw one bigger than 10lbs but I know someone who had an 18 pounder.
I did a canal boat trip on the Trent-Mersey a few years ago and had a few nice carp with meat at the far bank early mornings, 12-15 lb. Also chub, loitering around the lock sluices, again on meat. But the K-A had no locks besides Bradford on Avon & no accessible sluice there. But the Avon itself looks great at Bradford and is free to fish below the bridge. Will also try there next time.
The stretch amongst the distant trees in the last pic. Supposed to be all sorts down there.
I have fished that Bradford bit (I think), on a boat trip. Just roach and eels if memory serves but I expect location is everything. We just moored up, went to the pub and wetted a line on our return.
The river rather than the canal? I was talking with a guy just setting up by the river there who said there were Carp, Barbel, Chub, Tench, Bream, Roach etc all in that section.
Yes, the river. I had to ask one of my mates that I was with at the time. It was 1996! A bit hazy…
First time out on a friend’s boat fishing off Beadnell, Northumberland.
I’m very much a novice fisherperson, with marginal experience of lrf & saltwater spinning… I had caught some mackerel & codling on feathers earlier on in the day using the regular drop ‘n’ lift method, but this was much later in the day, on a 5-15g spinning rod with a sandeel lure. Without a doubt the most exciting and "OMG-What the fuck am I s’posed to do now:person_shrugging:t4:? " moment of my limited fishing experience.

Cottington lake with my grandson
Plenty of nice sized carp about but no luck catching unfortunately, couldn’t avoid the pesky roach Rudd and skimmer bream.
Grandson managed to land his first roach
Needs moar dog biscuits
Whereabouts?
It’s a local lake . . . for local people
Thanks! About an hour away.
Just up the road from you. Recommended
Yes, have tried that, maybe 4 years ago? Was a bit of a hole in the ground then… Mostly, I like fishing these commercial lakes for perch but to be honest, I have less time these days. I’m working as we speak!
Chequertree is nuts!
Success !
caught enough fish to feed the whole fam
Plenty of mackerel a gar fish and several nice sized dabs
Sandgate?
Yep 2 hours up 2 down. Next to the kiosk/ Budgens
Ample parking right next to the beach
