Another LCR phono (aka BTJ-9000S)

That bloody Ngra is impossible to operate sober let alone when pissed.
I have been to many a bake off where some unsuspecting newbie (to the Nagra) is chucked the remote and totally fails to get any music out of it! (me included).

This.

I listen to this once in a while

I think you can, or could, get it on vinyl. But I was told it’s not on Tidal. I see Amazon will stream it to you as an MP3.

Like all the classical that Jim listens to so regularly…

You can get a vinyl copy from Amazon £48.60.
I have got the CD copy but I don’t think I have ever played it.

Whatever else you do, don’t do that. CD will in time be a legacy product - good players will become sought after and pricey.

I’d also step warily overcommitting to streaming, because in the real-world (ex-audiophiliam) low bitrate will supplant all else, so being able to play (and rip) your CDs will be very useful - as Dave says, some stuff is available in no other format. I’ve just bought a top quality offboard optical disc drive for this exact reason, as my new lappy lacketh said feature.

I also find good quality CD rips sound a little better through my DAC than they do using the CDT (which I rate highly) into the same DAC.

Pro tip;
never go to anyone’s bake off/house who has a better system than yours.
I only go to bake offs with people whose hi fi is from Curry’s.

Whether you like the music or not (I happen to) the sound quality on that album was very high. I see one of the Amazon reviewers has suggested that recent CD was not so good. But I’ve not had mine long and it seems very good to me.

Some of the best advice I’ve ever read on a hifi forum…

I mostly go to bake offs where there are currys. Or chillis.

Fuck. Off. I want a cheap CD player :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

FFS, if you people just get on and commission the BTJ-9001S, the problem won’t exist, will it ?

Small problem being my entire system cost me less than that stage!

I’m sure Pete would accept installments.

If only you get a DIY’er who could knock out a cheap copy of the pro version.

I’m sure eBay has a Chinese clone by now.

You’ve only got two kidneys though

That @murrayjohnson fellow is also causing havoc with that R2R of his

Nice to shake up the status quo, occasionally.

No Stranglers albums yet tho, so you’re safe. :+1::grin:
