Actually, can you record the mic input of a speaker sweep? Then play it back, is there any background noise or anything?
There’s a lot of hiss on my phone, maybe that’s the problem?
Will investigate further.
It does sound to me like there is too much hiss, which could give rise to all of the HF-dominated issues. Not sure what would be causing it though.
Quick test with a different mic has less hiss, will try a different mic pre when I get a chance.
As you have some Air Scouts in the above pics i thought I would add a pic of the Air partner
I heard a pair a few weeks ago, they were excellent.

My “blank sheet of paper” system would probably be tapped horn 20-80, open baffle 80-400, 2" compression driver 400-7k and 2405 7k-20k. Gets around the monster size issues and should sound great in a normal room.

Funny you should say that! I have active sub BK XLS400 20-60; 18" OB 60-400; 12" 400-2k; beyma tpl150 2k up with help from a beyma cp21f (2405 copy) on a first order xo.
Been boiling stuff down since Ritchie’s posts about moving his system around about 2 months ago and I am within a gnats whisker of pushing the button on replacing the 12" , tpl150 and cp21f with a 65cm JMLC with 1.4" throat to take a b&c dcx 464 coaxial driver.
Need to buy the horns from Germany before fucknugget BJ does his worst!!!

I think I recognise the speakers and the amps under the table look suspiciously like the legendary 845 monos

Positively sparse, perhaps the image taker was a burglar? I do like the CD torture rack look. Sun fading and experimenting with heat assisted digital destruction is a gentlemanly pursuit.
