This I think is the neo Nazi bar. Weird.
On the juke box it had The bombing of England naturally I played it.
Yeah, I ended up in a bar in Salzburg in the 80s and only after I sat down did I notice the swastika and bust of Hitler above the bar
Interesting night.
Hitlerâs photo was behind the bar but Iâd Only noticed it after I bought our drinks. There was about 200 steins on the ceiling that belonged to Germans who used the pub as there local during the war. The customer behind us gave a Nazi salute to the barman. Only stayed for the one drink.

Milton Keynes, where the architects of the new town / city skewed the grid layout so the appropriately named âMidsummer Boulevardâ aligned with the sunrise on midsummers day. They then plunked a pyramid at one end of it to send the conspiracy nutters into a frenzy, started a bonfire, cranked the pink floyd and got wrecked on the devils lettuce.
Fucking. Legends.
I was in Dusseldorf last year visiting some friends, love that place.
Not a big fan of the Altbier though.
Palestine ! Fuckinâ lovely stuff ![]()
Like the taste but it gives me really bad heartburn. Now Kolsch in Koln on the other hand.
Fair enough. I just love beer. Apart from S.E.Asia, I struggle to find beer I donât like .
about the only thing that disagrees with me is Stella
I find that my drinking Stella disagrees with Narelle.
Always heard rotterdam was a far cooler city than Amsterdam
I also lived in Amsterdam and it was far better than Rotterdam. IMO.
Two quite different cities.
Since Rotterdam was completely devastated, thereâs not really an old city centre, which Amsterdam still has. Both are vibrant though, but in different ways.
And if you like museums, in Amsterdam you have the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum in one square. And the Concertgebouw at the other side.
However, pre Covid, there were endless waiting lines and crowded with tourists, when I lived closed by in Haarlem in the 80âs it was really quiet and pleasent at these museums. Now it might be not too busy as well, but you need to book slots in advance, but why travel to a Covid hot spotâŚ
Well Rotterdam wasnât vibrant when I lived there in the sixties. Dutch people viewed the people from there as hard working and watching tv. Our highlight
was The Orange Tree pub which no longer exists.
Yes, Rotterdam has the reputation of hard working, still now, because of the port.
I can`t remember too much in regard to vibrancy from the 60âs, since I was born in 68.
Based on the length of the miniskirt on photos I saw, I assume there was.
But then I was too young to be interested in that, I think I concentrated more on the coockie jar.
Just googled this for a different conversation.
My parents owned this oddity in Worcs in the 80s (we lived in a Victorian semi on the side of the hill to the left).
Very odd layout internally. I suspect that it started out with no inside loo or bath.
And that strange garage door is a more recent addition.
Whereabouts is it Guy?
