Architecture

Architecture is one area of the arts that is treated so unpredictability compared to many others. I am sure all of you have been to a gallery, classic car show, furniture exhibition/store and said ‘ugh, that’s ugly/not to my taste’ etc. But the fact is those objects are there to be appreciated, or in some cases not, as a point in history or represent a period in our creative thinking. History shouldn’t be edited based on one particular view point (we all know where that leads), it should be preserved for future generations to discover their own preferences and learn from it. I dislike post-modern art and architecture, Neo-classicism, amongst others but don’t wish for a bland state where only things that please my eye exist.

Oh, hang on, that might be quite nice.

Can you imagine if we had a country full of mock Tudor housing estates… Oh hang on…

‘Round my way the new build mock Tudor and thatched roofs are saved for the wealthy, the cookie cutter housing is just red brick featureless shite.

Tacky McMansions are the thing in Toronto right now. That and ugly, poorly built high rise condominiums.

Brad and Angie’s old place in Petersham Richmond bought for £10m about 10 years ago.
Andrew Loog Oldham and Barry Ryan used to live there.

St. Aldhelm’s Chapel, Dorset. The age and original use of this building aren’t really known but it’s thought it may have been a fisherman’s chapel dating back to the thirteenth century. It has graffiti that’s hundreds of years old carved in to the stone within. It’s a very peaceful place to visit.

Demolition of what?
The tower or the coastal defences protecting it?

They’re experimental “living capsules”, but it turned out to be quite a long experiment.

Built in Sony entertainment package!

All looks a bit Space 1999, but a very cool concept, not very well executed apparently, lots of plumbing and ventilation problems.

Some of the capsules are being saved and repurposed, would make a great garden office/guest room.

Think of all those RTR and Amps coming out of them!

They look much better on the inside than the outside :grinning:
