So we’ve got Labour: “eleventy squintillion spending”, Tories: “all children not born to royalty should be in poverty” and Lib Dems: “Spartacus for PM” - there are huge differences between the parties; even though it should be a single issue election, it certainly is not.
Not 'arf !

Except it is.
For you, perhaps, and also for me, but not for the parties.
The reality is that the only thing that matters is if the electorate see it as a single issue election.
I am not sure that is true.
Nor am I. “The electorate” seems quite diverse now. I’m sure that the parties have done a lot of testing and are happy with their approach.
Actually, I think that the Tories have decided that it’s a single issue thing so they have “get Brexit done” and the rest is pure evil, while Labour have decided to pursue a fantasy as they don’t like the results of their testing.
Sooner the election is over, the sooner grandpa can retire to his library.
Interesting quotes from the DUP this morning who say they can’t deal with any Corbyn-lead Labour minority Govt., but could possibly deal with a Labour minority Govt. I take recent comments from the Lib Dems in the same light. The SNP will only support a Labour Govt in return for Indy Ref #2. So, if we end up with a hung Parliament (which is about the best we can possibly hope for at the moment) there are going to be very, very interesting negotiations.
The ‘Get Brexit Done’ mantra is going to be murder for Tory candidates in Scotland and in non-Brexity constituencies in England and Wales. If, and it is a big if, the Labour vote holds up then we are in hung Parliament mode.
He’ll be delighted to finish colouring those books in.
Politicians have 2 golden rules
Never admit you’re wrong or made a mistake.
If you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth.
They know damn well that more people will see the extra 50,000 nurses quote than will see her getting ripped apart on TV so they don’t give a toss how much their bullshit is proven wrong.
There are at least two issues that everyone I’ve spoken to and (I think) just about everyone I’ve seen on the telly/heard on the radio reckon are important. Just to be crystal clear a) Brexit and b) Would Corbyn be an acceptable PM ? Very few don’t have a view on the latter (one way or the other). It could affect the result fundamentally.

People buy people. Sadly this negates ‘policy’
Policy is wholly worthless unless it can be implemented. For successful implementation you have to convince a lot of people to come with you. It’s the hardest thing (ask John Major or Gordon Brown or Theresa May). Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t have the ability to do it. Recognising that is not sad, it’s just realistic.

Corbyn is being interviewed by Andrew Neil this evening on BBC1. I hope he is more convincing than usual or this could be very ugly.
This. The current Tory manifesto appears to be a slogan and an opportunity for Johnson to gurn a bit and have his photo taken doing stupid things. Their only policy seems to be to hide JRM, Bill Cash, Mark Francois et al, and to tell the odd fib.
It is depressingly successful…![]()
Yep, especially when you’re up against something so out of touch, so dogmatic, and so toxic. Not a real surprise then is it?
There was a good interview in The Times the other day with Jo Johnson who put together the manifesto for the 2015 election. He said that if your manifesto is still being discussed 48 hours after release then you are in big trouble.
The bloke who did all the marketing for the original Brexit leave group said much the same thing.
“If 24 hours before the referendum people are talking about immigration we will win, if they are talking about the economy we will lose”
iirc.
Brexiters are dumb, who knew? This is glorious.
