Japanman digs A2:
Cheers @dom for sharing this! Looks like Doug has a ‘Sport’ trim version- three spoke wheel; bolstered seats and black instrument bezels. Oh, and the gear lever is different.
Seems strange watching one being driven on US roads. Must be absolutely tiny compared with their metal!
I do disagree with his comments about lack of fun, however he might not have roads like our narrow curvy country lanes.
A well driven A2 will keep expensive metal honest…

I had no idea about the rear seats folding again for a totally flat bed
They are removable on the four seat version too! It is a cunt of a job, so I don’t like doing it. Clips and cables can stick and bind over time:
Alison’s feral sister:
I’ve always said these are fun. Alison is fucking untouchable on the 264 between East Grinstead and base.
Interesting to see they haven’t really lost a lot of weight- 916Kg from 1,111Kg.*
Not always about power; the driver was enjoying himself. Agree with him about the left foot braking. Not really necessary though!
That is a cracking road. Once had to do that for work in late summer in a Midget with the roof down while being paid for the mileage. Oh, the hardship…
Must’ve been awesome in that car- exactly what they’re designed for! ![]()
All true but a little extra pep never hurts. Depronman on A2OC can provide a subtle but useful remap for an AMF.
I’ve thought about this, however I have reservations based on mileage- 295,000- and age.
Alison is quite lively as is and we still get a solid 55- absolute worst- to 60mpg! ![]()
Satisfactory results:
Engine bay was inspected and cleaned too. Apart from a weeping egr valve, all good.
Thanks for posting this Stu! It’s a great session with the A2 and I’ve always felt the same way about FoL2’s 90 HP version. Even with no tweaks whatsoever it feels light and responsive but also planted in bends, and I just love the torque from about 2000-4000 rpm - it surprises many ‘faster’ cars ![]()
Yes, that is a fair old mileage I guess and there’s no point changing something you’re happy with.
I have a 90 and I have access to two 75s and a 1.4 petrol. The petrol engine has an aluminium block and you can feel the better weight balance in the car. It also doesn’t have the torque of the diesels so you have to drive it on revs to make progress. The 75 diesel has a wastegate actuated turbo with nice linear power delivery whereas the 90 has a variable vane turbo which gives more of a hit of torque as you describe. The engines are old and outputs low but the cars are light and aerodynamic so it is possible to make effective progress and still sip at the pump. Good cars.
I’ve always thought a 'busa transplant would turn the car into a real sleeper - imagine the 1.4 petrol with 2 1/2 times the power… ![]()
